Call for Sites 2026
Overview

The new plan will allocate sites in the period up to 2045 to meet the housing, economic development, environmental and other needs of the Royal Borough. This call for sites provides the opportunity for you to suggest sites for a range of different uses, not just for housing or economic development, including sites for community uses, renewable energy provision and biodiveristy improvements. We welcome sumbissions from landowners, developers and other interested parties.
A key issues for the new plan is addressing housing need. Our latest local housing need figure has increase significantly under the government's revised stadard methodology (December 2024). In June 2026 the local housing need figure for the Borough is 1,407 homes per year. This compares with the objectively assessed housing need figure that underpinned the current Borough Local PLan of 712 dwellings per year. We therefore need to consider all potential site options to try to meet the higher need figure.
The call for sites exercise runs from 30th July to 11:59pm 13th September 2026.
How to submit a site
Sites must be submitted through the online submission form below. You must complete a separate form for each site submission.
The submission of a site through the call for sites exercise does not mean that the site will be allocated in the new plan or granted planning permission. Once submitted, sites will be subject to assessment using national planning guidance. This is a data collection exercise, not decision-making process.
